What happens when?

Here are the main events that happen at school during the academic year. Individual dates and information about the events are added to the Calendar and ClassDojo throughout the year, at least a term in advance.

Events where parents/carers are invited, and/or donations/payments are requested, are marked in bold.

September
  • Individual & sibling school photos
  • Macmillan Coffee Afternoon (parents/carers invited, cake and charity donations requested).
October

Harvest Festival & Gold Frames Service at a local church (parents/carers invited, refreshments on sale). Donations to the food bank are requested in advance.

November 
  • Remembrance Service at the Cenotaph in Totton (Years 3,4,5,6 only - parents/carers can watch as members of the public).
  • Children In Need - children can wear their own clothes for a £1 donation to the charity
  • Year 6 Evacuee Dress-Up Day
  • Scholastic Book Fair
  • Bedtime Stories - come back to school in your PJs for a story and activity (parents/carers to attend)
  • Parents Meetings with class teachers.
December
  • Year 3 Stone Age Dress-Up Day
  • Christingle Service at a local church (refreshments on sale)
  • Key Stage 1 Nativity Performance at a local church - tickets to be purchased in advance, refreshments on sale).
  • Year R and Year 1 Campfires after school
  • Christmas Dinner & Jumper Day
  • Gold Frames Assembly (invitation only).
January
  • Year 6 trip to Sea City Museum
February
  • Storytelling Week
  • Safer Internet Day
  • Year 6 Bikeability
  • Gold Frames Assembly (invitation only)
  • Express Afternoon - parents/carers to visit their child's classroom to view their work at the end of the school day.
March
  • Parents Meetings with class teachers
  • Mother's Day Breakfast (Mums are invited for a pastry and drink)
  • World Book Day
  • Red Nose Day - children can wear their own clothes for a £1 donation to the charity
  • Year 3 and 4 Easter Production (parents/carers of Y3 and Y4 invited, refreshments on sale).
  • Holi Colour Throw (families invited to watch).
April
  • Grandparents' Open Afternoon
  • Gold Frames Assembly (invitation only)
  • Express Afternoon - parents/carers visit their child's classroom to view their work at the end of the school day.
May
  • Year 6 SATS Week
  • Year 2 and Year 3 Sleepover in the school hall
  • Year 4 Egyptian Dress-Up Day
  • Year 5 Greek Dress-Up Day (Portals to the Past)
  • Gold Frames Assembly (invitation only).
  • Term dates for the next academic year (including inset days) are finalised by Oakfield's Governors.
June
  • Class photos
  • Father's Day Breakfast (Dads are invited for a drink and pastry)
  • Year 1 Phonics Screening
  • Year 4 Multiplication Check
  • Sports Day and 'Oakfest' (our Summer Fair, run by the PTA. Volunteers and donations for the bottle tombola, cake stall etc. may be requested in advance of the day. Refreshments will be on sale on the day, with all funds raised going to the PTA). 
  • Year 5 and 6 Residential Trip
  • Year R trip to Moors Valley
  • Year 3 to Rockbourne Roman Villa
  • Year 1 trip to Marwell Zoo.
July
  • Year 2 trip to Tudor House
  • Stay and Play sessions for next year's Year R children
  • Transition Days
  • Year 4 Overnight Camp on the field
  • Year 6 Production & Leavers Ceremony (invitation only)
  • Gold Frames Assembly (invitation only).
August
